Forty years later, the book’s first sentence resonates just as strongly as it did on the day of its publication. Levitt (1983) argued that although cultural differences exist, they can be overcome and to some extent ignored by marketing strategy since what he conceives of as non-cultural product attributes such as low prices and high product quality always overwhelm differences in cultural tastes and preferences.
